Additional Upgrade Options
Maximize Your Power Gains:
Consider these additional upgrades to further enhance your Ford V6's performance:
-
Larger Throttle Body: A larger throttle body complements the increased airflow capacity of the ported intake. We highly recommend this upgrade. Use our Throttle Body Adapter to install an 80mm throttle body on the following vehicles:
- Ford Mustang 3.7L V6 (2011-2017)
- Ford F-150 STX, XL, XLT 3.7L & 3.3L V6 (including Flex) (2011-2019)
- Ford Transit-150, 250, 350 3.7L & 3.5L V6 (including Flex & LPG) (2015-2019)
-
SCT X4 Tuner: An SCT X4 tuner allows you to fine-tune your engine's performance for optimal results with your modifications.
-
Larger Fuel Injectors: Consider upgrading to larger fuel injectors to maximize power at higher RPMs.
If your NA V6 has multiple upgrades, and they have been done well, you may find that you have exceeded the capacity of your 29lb injectors.
This modification requires a custom tune.
Important Note:
Avoid porting the upper intake manifold unless you plan to add forced induction (supercharger or turbocharger) to your engine. The factory upper intake is already well-designed for naturally aspirated applications, and porting it can reduce low-end and mid-range power.

Scored a solid discount and finally pulled the trigger. I’ve been holding off on going full ported upper and lower, but I came across a setup with just the lower ported and paired it with an 80mm throttle body.
Initial impressions after install? Impressive. I’ll be updating the tune soon to see if there’s more performance waiting to be unlocked.
The 80mm TB is noticeable below 3,000 RPM—improved throttle response and low-end torque. But once you climb past that, the ported lower takes over. Midrange and top-end just keep pulling harder than expected. It’s a clean, progressive gain across the band.
