Terminology
Back-space:
The distance from the wheel's mounting hub surface to the outside of the lip on the back of the wheel.
Front-space:
The distance from the mounting surface to the outside of the lip on the front of the wheel.
FYI:
The Back-space plus the Front-space equals the Total Wheel Width.
IE: Total Wheel Width is wheel width plus the width of the front lip and the back lip.
Offset:
The distance from the mounting surface to the middle of the wheel. A positive offset means the smaller portion of the wheel width is toward the fender.
IE: the Back-space is bigger than the Front-space.
Wheel Width:
The distance between the two tire mounting surfaces on the wheel.
IE: For a 10 inch wheel, the tire mounting surfaces are 10 inches apart (aka 254mm apart).
